I’m not sure where this clock came from. My friend Stacie had it at her house and donated it to the office remodel we worked on this past week. I have actually seen another just like it in a thrift store since she gave it to me. It was her idea to paint it, and a good one at that! I am not sure I would have even given it a second thought.
Paint is a miracle worker though. The cool part is you really can paint just about anything. I have to remember that when I am out junking. If something has a cool shape or quality to it but is stuck in the 80’s with powder blue or better yet the 70’s harvest gold and just needs a little update – grab it. It can be hard to see past the color, but it gets easier the more you see things transformed. You can paint glass, plastic, metal, fabric, cork, iron, paper – anything!
This makeover was quick and easy. First I simply painted the clock with homemade chalk paint. Next I printed off my friend’s initials in a size and font I felt went with her theme. Tracing paper is my favorite friend for lettering because I don’t have great handwriting on my own. I use it to trace an outline that I fill in with paint. Have I mentioned how much I adore a monogram? I wouldn’t be Southern if I didn’t.
The face of the clock needed a little update with a casual twist. All I did here was print out some new numbers on a cute background, ripped the paper up and modge podged it on the clock face. To finish it off and protect the paint I waxed it. Done.
Now, what else can I paint???

Very cute! Is it still functional as far as keeping time once you paper modge podged the face?

works like a charm! I just pasted around the base of the hands, so it didn’t mess with the mechanics.

The makeover is cute, but it would have been perfect in my guest room in its original color!
Kim at Hunt and Host says
well that would have been much easier, lol!!!

I had that exact blue clock! It was a wedding gift 31 years ago! In fact, maybe that was mine. ????
