This reversible fall and Christmas sign provides easy thanksgiving decoration and elegant Christmas décor too!Hi friends, the countdown is on and napkin decoupage will make your holiday decorating sweet and easy! You guys know I love an easy project and this one certainly fits the bill. You may even have some supplies already in your home. When I saw these star napkins on Halloween clearance, I thought they would be perfect for elegant Christmas décor. Plaid is a great backdrop, but hard to hand paint, so these plaid napkins were perfect too. I grabbed a piece of scrap wood from my stash outside. We have had some rain lately and it was damp, so I turned the broiler on in the oven, let the oven heat up, turned it off, then put the wood in to dry out for a while. Next I painted the whole block a creamy white. If you are going to do napkin decoupage the color underneath matters. A lighter color helps to not overpower the napkin design. Paint the entire surface you’d like to cover with Mod Podge or Decoupage, carefully lay the napkin on the surface and gently rub from the middle out, something out as many wrinkles as possible. Once dry the edges will tear away or you can use sandpaper to sand it off. Using my Cricut I cut out the phrases Give Thanks and O Holy Night to add to the new napkin decoupage background. You could paint letters or even use scrapbook letters if you don’t have a cutting machine. I knocked out décor for two holidays in one sitting, you can too! Make it your own, hunt for fun napkins, add a phrase that cuts to the meaning of holidays for you and your family. These would make great gifts too. Happy crafting friends, be sure to save this idea for later!

There ARE so many cute napkins out there. Totally doing this! And did you use just regular cutting vinyl for the Cricut? Thx so much!
Kim at Hunt and Host says

What a cute idea. I never thought to preheat the oven then turn it off to dry damp wood. I’ve always ended leaving it in the house to dry. Thanks for both great ideas!

I am always crafting on a whim, so the oven helps my impatience 🙂
